This hand forged Ax is a two handed Franciscan profile inspired by the hand axes from the merovingian dynasty of central Europe. The blackened handle is made of Ash wood and is extremely light weight. A functional buckskin leather wrap adorns the Ax from head to handle. The spine of the Ax is deeply engraved with a geometric moon pattern and the unique scaling pattern on the face truly sets this Ax apart visually.
Ash is a lighter wood than our traditional hickory handles, which makes this ax have a unique feel in your hands by shifting the center of balance closer to the head. The lettering in the handle is Pre-Germanic Elder Futhark transliteration, and translates into English as “Airwalker”. This can be considered a display Ax, and it is also fully functional. The head is forged from a section of a 6 foot long rail road spike puller bar, and is heat treated & tempered for toughness.
